Program

We supply fire and police stations with curated emergency and safety products. Stations sell them to their communities through Zeffy. Every dollar raised goes into a restricted fund for that specific station — zero taken off the top.

The Process

How It Works

Three steps from setup to station fund. No upfront cost to the station, no hidden fees, no administrative burden.

01
RF Supplies the Inventory
Responders First provides the station with curated emergency and safety products — flashlights, fire blankets, emergency road flares, survival kits, and more. No purchase required from the station. RF handles procurement and fulfillment.
02
Station Runs a Zeffy Campaign
RF sets up a dedicated Zeffy storefront for the station. The station shares the link with their community — neighbors, HOAs, local businesses, social media. Buyers purchase items directly online. Zeffy charges zero platform fees, so 100% of every sale goes to the fund.
03
Funds Go to a Restricted Account
All proceeds are deposited into a restricted fund specific to that station, held through Friends of West LA (FOWLA), our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Funds are only accessible by that station for approved purchases — equipment, supplies, station improvements.

Our Platform

Why Zeffy?

Most fundraising platforms charge 3–10% in processing and platform fees. Zeffy is a nonprofit fundraising platform that charges zero platform fees — processing is covered by optional donor tips to Zeffy itself, not taken from the campaign.

For Responders First station campaigns, this means every dollar a community member spends goes into that station’s fund. A $99 emergency kit raises exactly $99. A $39 fire blanket raises exactly $39.

Zero Platform Fees
100% of every purchase goes directly to the station’s restricted fund. Zeffy is sustained by optional tips from donors, not from campaign proceeds.
Accepts All Payment Types
Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more. Mobile-optimized for on-the-spot purchases at station events, neighborhood meetings, or shared links.
Per-Station Storefronts
Each station gets its own dedicated campaign page with their badge, description, and item inventory. Funds never commingle between stations.
Real-Time Reporting
RF and station captains can view live sales dashboards showing units sold, revenue raised, and payment breakdowns at any time.

The Restricted Fund

Where the Money Goes

Every campaign raises money that belongs exclusively to that station. Here’s how the fund lifecycle works from first sale to station purchase.

01
Sale Processed via Zeffy
Community member purchases an item through the station’s Zeffy storefront. Payment processes instantly, confirmation emailed to buyer. Zero fees deducted.
02
Proceeds Deposited to FOWLA
Zeffy remits proceeds to Friends of West LA (FOWLA), Responders First’s 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor (EIN 26-1693591). Funds are tagged to the specific station’s restricted account.
03
Station Submits a Purchase Request
When the station is ready to spend, the captain or designee submits a purchase request to RF specifying the item, vendor, and amount. RF reviews for eligibility.
04
RF Fulfills the Purchase
Upon board approval, RF purchases the item on behalf of the station using restricted fund dollars and delivers or ships directly to the facility. The station never handles the money directly.
