We collect information you provide directly to us when you register for a grant, request equipment, contact us, or otherwise interact with our Site.

  • Grant Application Information: To verify eligibility and manage grant requests for City Facilities (such as Fire and Police stations), we collect the name, rank, email address, and phone number of the Person in Charge (the applicant). We also collect station-specific details, such as Station Number/Division and address.

  • System Credentials (Optional): For systems where we provide ongoing management or technical support (including Cameras, Mesh Wi-Fi, Starlink, and Nanobeam systems), we may securely retain administrative usernames and passwords. These are used strictly for configuration, troubleshooting, and firmware updates.

  • Consent and Preference Data: We collect your preferences regarding receiving information about future Responders First LA programs and your agreement to terms regarding installation responsibility and our privacy policy.

  • Communications: When you contact us via email or through our Site, we collect any additional information you voluntarily provide.

Information We Do Not Collect & Privacy Restrictions

A core tenet of our mission is privacy. While we may manage the hardware, we strictly limit access to the data generated by that hardware:

  • No Internet Usage Tracking: For network systems we manage (Mesh Wi-Fi, Starlink, Non-City Routers), we do not track, log, or monitor specific internet usage, browsing history, or traffic content of users on these networks.

  • No External Video Access: While we may manage device settings, we do not have external access to view live or recorded video feeds from camera systems.

  • No Internal Audio: We do not configure devices to capture audio from within the station. Audio recording inside the station is strictly disabled on all devices.

  • No Cloud Storage of Video: We do not host or store video recordings in the cloud. All video is stored locally at the facility.

  • No Rich Notifications: We do not process or store thumbnail images for push notifications.

How We Use Your Information That We Do Collect

We use the information collected for various purposes necessary to operate the Responders First LA program, process grants, and communicate effectively.

  • Grant Management: To determine eligibility and verify the identity of the Command Staff or Person in Charge.

  • Technical Support: We use retained system credentials to provide remote assistance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, or re-configure devices upon request by the station.

  • Notifications: To send text or email messages to the Person in Charge regarding the status of their grant request or equipment delivery.

  • Site Security: To protect against unauthorized grant requests or fraudulent activity.

Camera & Network Systems Policies

To ensure the privacy of first responders and the security of City Facilities, the following policies apply to all systems provided or managed by Responders First LA:

Camera Systems

  • Local Storage Only: Camera systems are configured to store data locally on-site.

  • Default Retention: Systems are configured by default for a 48-hour retention period, after which data is automatically overwritten. We do not maintain historical archives of footage.

  • On-Site Viewing: Video feeds are intended for on-site viewing via the local control panel.

Network Infrastructure (Starlink, Mesh, Nanobeam)

  • Management: We may manage non-city routers and connectivity hardware to ensure reliable operation.

  • Privacy: Our management is limited to hardware health and connectivity status (e.g., “Is the system online?”). We do not inspect data packets or user activity.

Sharing of Your Information

We share personal information only as necessary to fulfill our program commitments or comply with legal requirements.

  • Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party service providers (e.g., shipping carriers, IT support) to perform services on our behalf. They are only authorized to access information necessary for their specific functions.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose personal information if required to comply with applicable laws, legal processes, or governmental requests.

  • Aggregate Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized data (e.g., “10 stations served”) which cannot be used to identify individuals, to evaluate program effectiveness.

Retention of Information

We retain your personal information, until you state otherwise, to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

  • Grant Data: Information related to grant applications is retained to manage distribution, warranty support, and feedback.

  • System Credentials: Administrative credentials are retained only as long as we are providing active support for the hardware.

  • Data Deletion: Upon request (subject to legal retention requirements), personal information will be securely deleted.
